WCHA CEO announces death of beloved board member
Below is a message from WCHA Chief Executive Officer Michael L. Washowich:
On behalf of all of the WCHA Family, the board of commissioners, staff and residents, I am sad to announce that a friend of all of us passed away Tuesday after a long battle with multiple health issues.
Ms. Norene Price, who I met 15 years ago or so, was an inspiration to me personally!
Norene was appointed to the WCHA Board of Commissioners in 2015. She was influential in the Authority’s success over these years during which she witnessed the opening of South Greengate Commons and Odin View apartments and the expansion of the WCHA campus on South Greengate Road in Greensburg.
She was also a huge supporter of WCHA’s newest venture Grand View Senior Residences which will open in a few months.
Although Norene’s various ailments left her dependent on the use of a wheelchair, she never complained.
Norene’s mission in life was to help others who she felt were less fortunate than herself. And it was due to her unique understanding of the difficulties that people with disabilities endure that she took such great pride in the fact that WCHA has expended more than $15 million in accessibility improvements throughout its communities.
Her enthusiasm and positive attitude were infectious to all!
I visited her often because she was so special! I felt my visits would lift her spirits but instead, she lifted mine.
Her commitment to people with disabilities was commendable!
On behalf of all of us here at WCHA, our deepest condolences go out to her family. She will be deeply missed.
